Baron Dmitri Krezkov is the burgomaster of Krezk, a walled village at the base of the Abbey of Saint Markovia. He is a cautious, protective leader who keeps Krezk's gates closed to outsiders, grudgingly allowing strangers in only if they can prove themselves useful to the village's survival. Despite his guarded nature, Dmitri is a good man who cares deeply for his people and maintains close friendships with the other burgomasters of Barovia.

The Abbot resides at the Abbey of Saint Markovia above Krezk. Dmitri does not trust the Abbot, but knows there is little he can do about him. The Abbot's creatures — the locals deride them as 'stitches' or 'mongle-folk' — are forced to stay on the Abbey grounds.

Dmitri's wife. Practical and steady — the kind of person who acts when others freeze. Together they grieve the loss of their daughter Ilya.

Dmitri and Vargas are close friends among the Barovian burgomasters. They attended each other's festivals and shared counsel on protecting their people. Dmitri and Anna attended the Festival of Light in Vallaki as honoured guests.

Kolyan was a close friend and fellow burgomaster. His death was a blow to Dmitri, who saw Kolyan as one of the few leaders in Barovia who genuinely cared about his people.
